Exactly 6 months ago, I got my first actual journal. At that time I made up my mind that I will start journaling everyday. Because I was very lost, I had no idea what I was doing and why I was doing what I was doing. Now I know journaling is not a very big thing for people, but for me journaling was connecting me to myself. And since I started journaling, in the span of 6 months I have made so much progress which I couldn’t make in the last 2 years.
My first Journal
What is Journaling?
The main reason why I like journaling is because there are no rules, you just start writing and write as long as you want, whatever you want. And I’ve seen on the internet that many people keep searching for a proper guide to journal, and I feel like that’s absurd. Finding a guide for accurate journaling is very ironic, because the main goal of journaling is so you don’t have any restrictions, you can think freely, write freely and understand what you are thinking.
Journals are not used to track your life.
Journals are not a dairy or a day tracker. It’s a canvas where you play, you paste your thoughts and emotions. And this is a very important thing everyone who uses a journal needs to understand. Sure you document your life, but there’s a difference between tracking and documenting.
Journal used for work.
Personally, I use only one journal at a time, in which I write about everything. My Work, my hobbies, my health, everything. Because if you think about it – journals are meant to paste everything that is going in your mind, and our minds are not stable. I need to get all my tasks done, while also making sure I learn a new skill for an hour while making sure I don’t miss my workout. And that’s the beauty of journals. There are no Rules, and where there are no rules there is Art.
Why I Journal.
The only reason I got so much into journaling is because of the clarity I got in the process of doing so, and as we grow older you realise how important the clarity of thought is. I would say Journaling is just the Opposite of overthinking. Overthinking makes you lack clarity, even the easiest things start to seem the hardest when you overthink while Journaling makes your mind crystal clear.
That’s all I would say, this essay is my gratitude towards the journal and myself who planned on starting journaling.
